F. Chevalier (Inria Mjolnir): Visualization of static and dynamic networks: an overview

Graph networks are ubiquitous data structure in application domains ranging from security and engineering, to sociology and transportation, to medicine and biology. Over the past few decades, the visualization community has introduced a wide variety of representations, systems, and interaction techniques to visualize, explore, analyze and query these structures in their static and dynamic forms. In this talk, I will discuss the big challenges posed by the visualization of these large, complex structure, and provide an overview of the state-of-the-art techniques to address these challenges. I will follow with illustrations of some of the most recent advances in the field, through demonstration of interactive visualization tools that support the dynamic visual exploration of multi-variate networks, and ego-networks.
